Baby diapers, complete guide

The choice of diapers for babies and how they are used is often a dilemma for new parents. They see themselves in the situation of asking for diapers for their baby and they wake up to a lot of variants and prices, from which I do not know what to choose: ecological, reusable, disposable, brand x or y. We try to shed some light on the "diaper universe" for the little ones and offer you a complete information guide, from how to choose them, the right measures and how to change them correctly!

How do you choose baby diapers?

Baby diapers fall into three broad categories:

  • disposable;
  • reusable;
  • green.

Each of these types of diapers has advantages and disadvantages, based on which parents make the best choice for themselves and their babies.

It is important to choose the type of diaper that suits your baby's needs, but which are also handy for you. For example, a baby with hypersensitive skin will have to use diapers specially created for this type of skin or environmentally friendly. And if you are a very busy parent, all the time on the roads, who does not have time to wash them all the time, surely the disposable diapers will be handy and not reusable.

Disposable diapers are more practical and efficient, but something more expensive than reusable ones. Unfortunately, not all models on the market are safe for the health of your baby's skin. Many of them may contain harmful chemicals that can irritate the baby's skin.

On the other hand, reusable diapers are not so practical, but they are safer for the baby's skin and do not require large financial investments. They seem to be made from something more "friendly" to the baby's skin - cotton, hemp, bamboo, etc.

There is also the category of bio or eco diapers, with slightly more peppered prices, so with higher costs, but also with an increased safety for the baby's skin. They are created only from 100% natural materials and are ideal for babies with sensitive skin.

Recommendations for diapers for babies from mothers

Asked what diapers exist on the market they are satisfied with and which they find easier to use, the moms in the community made a top of them. Pampers and Pufies are the leading brands and among the favorites of the parents. Here's why:

"Pampers: I'm so soft and I keep my baby's skin so dry and clean, that in two months, my love was not even red at the bottom. Note 10 for Pampers." (Monica Cerbu)

"We use puffs and we are very pleased, our little girl does not get irritated by the donut." (Irina Niculae)

"Pampers to all three. I tried other types, but they were irritated, so I remained faithful Pampers." (Corina mural)

How do you know which is the right measure?

Although it does not seem like a difficult task, choosing the right measure for the little one can prove to be quite difficult. The main criterion for guiding parents in choosing diapers is weight. They are divided into several categories of kilograms - 3.5-7.5 kg or 6.5-12 kg, depending on each manufacturer.

But the criterion of weight or age, in some cases, is not enough to ensure that your baby is wearing the right size of diaper and that he feels comfortable in it. You also have to consider his body conformation. The baby can have a weight between 3.5 and 7 kg, but the diapers for this category of kilograms may not suit him, if he has a slightly stronger physical conformation.

The most important thing is to choose them according to their age or weight, but to test several variants, until you find the diaper that folds perfectly on his ass.

How do you go from one measure to another?

The transition from one measure to another is made when the weight of the child changes and no longer falls within the parameters recommended on the diaper package you use. But this is not the main clue you should consider when you want to change the measure.

There are children who exceed the limit of 6 kg inscribed on the diaper pack, let's say, but they do not fit the larger models, because they do not adapt to the conformation of the body. Therefore, they can still carry smaller diapers.

The most important clue is how the diaper behaves on the baby's body. If you notice that the ones you used up to now have started to squeeze it, you can no longer catch the clips than with great weight and see that it bothers or injures them, it is necessary to go to a greater extent.

How do you change your diaper?

It is known that a baby uses an average of 10 diapers a day, which means that new moms will have a lot of headaches in the first months of their baby's life.

Changing the baby's diaper should take a few essential steps to make sure it is caught properly and does not cause irritation due to skin rubbing or tightening and discomfort.

Here are the steps you need to follow when changing your diaper:

  • wash your hands well and undo the diaper you already have on it;
  • wipe it well with a damp towel to remove most of your faeces or urine; eventually, if you have access to water, you can wash it at the bottom, with warm water; carefully clean the areas between the skin boxes;
  • wipe it well just by tamping, to have the skin perfectly dry when you put on the diaper;
  • lift his feet and put his diaper under him; one of the upper parts must be below the bottom, close to the middle, and the other, passed between his legs until the edge reaches the navel area;
  • they attach themselves to the staples or hedgehog provided, neither too tight nor too weak, so as not to disturb the child; it is important that the diaper be tight enough so that it is securely fastened on the bottom and there is no risk of rubbing it against the skin and causing irritation.
